Hashtag Challenge Event Details

Event: Hashtag Challenge

Target group : Friends

Objective:

1. To increase the awareness of racial discrimination in the social media.

2. To bring up the positive attitude to other race’s friends in the social media.

Goal that I would like to achieve in the hashtag challenge event :

1. 30 likes ( √ )

2. 30 shares ( √ )

3. 30 comments ( √ )

Moral values that I would like to achieve are:

1. Respect

• We should respect to other as everyone have the right to being respected by other

• How the way you treat other, other will treat you back

2. Care

• We should care about other feeling when we comment or writing caption to the post in the social media.

3. Attitude

• We must have positive attitude towards other racial makes future life become happier, brighter and successful.

Chronological order:

Before submitting the proposal to the lecture, my group had done three meetings to discuss for the event and activity that are going to carry out by my group. We had planned to carry out 6 activities in our community. We did the proposal together and presentation during the class. After the lecture had approved the activity, my group started to organize and carry out the activity and event that had been planned to do.

Captions and posters were prepared one week before the event started. The poster has been designed, changed and modified a few times, so that the quality of the poster can be improved and better. The grammar and the vocabulary were also doing double checking with my groupmates to prevent spelling mistakes.

The hashtag challenge was carried out for 2 weeks. The participant needs to like and share the post. They also can give their comment or feedback below the post. In order to raise the positive attitude, they need to tag three of their friends on the comment, so that their friends also can tag their friend and continue to share and like the post. Therefore, the event can be shared with the public and increase the participants.

At the end of the event, this activity had been participated by 37 people. The hashtag challenge had collected 37 of like, 30 of sharing and 32 of comments.

Most of the participants had mentioned that the word of ‘respect’. We as a Malaysian should always respect and care to other. The skin tone and color should not be the factor that affect the harmony among races. Those feedbacks had achieved my objective which is to increase the awareness of racial discrimination in the social media.

More than that, the hashtag challenge is not only participated by Chinese friends but also Malay and India. Although the event was run by Chinese, but other races still positively involve in the hashtag challenge. This action shown that the positive had been bring up among different races the social media.

In conclusion, the hashtag challenge is carrying successfully in these two weeks. Our team accept all the comments and feedback that given by the participant. We will take opportunity to improve and become better in the future event. Lastly, we hope that this challenge can continuously instill positive moral value to raise the awareness about racial discrimination in the community.
