Online Interview Event Details

Venue: Answer question through WhatsApp, WeChat, Microsoft Team

Targeted Group: Adults (above 18 years old)​

Objective:

1. To attract social’ attention about issue racial discrimination

2. To teach and encourage adult to pass on the positive moral value to young generation.

3. To instill the moral value to adults- not to be racial discrimination

Goals to achieves: 10 respondence​

· 4 Malay

· 4 Chinese

Moral Values for respondents:​

· Respect

- To instil the moral value, respect others is important we be a people.

· Empathy

- To instil empathy to respondent and encourage them to share with young generation.

Suitability of chosen method: Through online interview, adults can explain well their view opinion about racial discrimination by using sentences.

There are 4 ethnics be the respondence for the interview, they will give their opinion, view about racial discrimination.

Chronological Order:

First step to do this activity is held many meeting to discuss the proposal then submit to lecture by present during lecture class to get the approvement. After have approved the activity, my group started to organize and carry out the activity and event that had been planned to do.

The following step is planning the details of the event like duration, venue, target group, question, moral value, objective of the event. Finding the respondent to answer the question until the goals of respondent achieved. The respondent participant the online interview has 4 races in Malaysia: Malays, Chinese, Indian and Bumiputera.

At the end of online interview, there have 3 Malays, 4 Chinese, 2 Indian and 1 Bumiputera participant the event. The feedback from respondent will be screenshot and share at below. For simple to read, blogger will summarize the feedback and last is do a conclusion.

Respond 1: Malays

Summary of respondent

- Feel disappointed because racial discrimination still is a huge problem in society especially young generation.

- The way to help victim:

i. discuss with children , talk about oppression, biases, bigotry, and anything related to racism for them to understand and not feeling insecure.

ii. Contact the school management to make report.

- Differences should not be the one that divides the society, we should embrace and appreciate it.

Respond 2: Malays

Summary of respondent

- Feel sad because racial discrimination that has happened in the school environment, scared for my child's mental health will be influenced.

- The way to help victim:

i. Share something good with him.

ii. Help him to announce to the school the situation of racial discrimination in the school environment or talk with him if he wants.

- It was always happened in the social or our surroundings.

- Normally is influenced by the family member or parents, it won’t be disappeared, just will be decreased.

- Won’t because something and reject or object the idea or thinking of others and treat others equally.

- We need to treat others equally and respect others whether same race and country, we were the same.

- We also need to be more empathetic before doing something, think that if we are the person in the situation, how would we feel and what will we do, and think that this action would hurt them.

Summary of respondent - consult with my child’s feelings and the situation - meet with the head master of the school to take a serious action to the attacker, and ask them to create more awareness to by providing more campaigns - Racial discrimination is a disgusting behavior conduct as the people are being treated differently which can break the peace among the people and destroy human rights among the people in this global era. - being polite with everyone with open arms, listening to them always, and also showing gratitude by always help each other despite different races with open arms and sincere. - moral values i’ve received is always need to be good and with each other and accept, it’s important to increase more awareness against racism as unity and peace is important to preserve the human rights among each other in the society.

Summary of feedback respondent

- Will advise the people who have racial discrimination and encourage them to try accepting other race in order to reduce the number of victims.

- We should cooperate together all the times whether in working or studying regardless of the race. This will make the works more efficiency.

- I will say hi and always smile to them.

- Learn that we should not discriminate other race and only like some certain race.

- I will advice the younger generation that we should try to know the characteristics of every race and be familiar with them.

- I will feel sad and try to talk with them.

- That is not a good appearance. Every racial must be respect each other and live together peacefully.

Summary of respondent - listen what problem my child faced, then try to contact with their parent teaching more truth knowledge about racial discrimination . - Racial discrimination is any discrimination against any individual base on their skin colour, or racial or ethnic origin. - Respect other racial of their ethnic and respect each other. - Be more respectful with other people without caring their skin colour and racial.

Summary of respondent - Feel angry,and feel disappointed to school and the young generation. - The way to help the victim is encourage them to speak out to teacher and parents. - Advise them don't worry about it, forgive them is forgive yourself ,no need to pay more attention about it. - We are people but we are different, we should dislike the people who harm us not the specific races. - Give help, be polite to them, accept their different, join and understand them. - The moral I get is we need to respect other and have empathy.

Summary of respondent - Disappointed as there are some parents being so ignorant about their child's behaviours if the children practicing discrimination.

- help the victim to ignore those kinds of discriminations as some people do not know our true self and character

- ignoring negative comment and fighting for our identity is the best choice to keep moving forward in this generation.

- racial discrimination is a tool to divide the whole world into categories.

- Respect should come from heart

- Even though the world turns to evil side, one good person can change the whole situation. Always do good thing and practice good value.

Respond 10: Bumiputera

Summary of respondent - Respondent will be quite concerned, because everything that children encounter in school has a direct impact on their growth and mental health. - will educate children not to emulate those individuals and urge my child to take the initiative and encourage those children to be friends, rather than choose to flee, and let them learn how to get along with people of other ethnic. - Racial discrimination is a prejudiced, irritating, and exclusive phenomenon caused by differences in skin tones, nationality, human species, and so on. - Always take the initiative and interact with individuals of other races, and the relationship between harmony may help things go more smoothly. - People are very beautiful because they are respected, help one another, understand one another, and have a compassionate, cherished spirit.

Conclusion

According to the online interview, the respondent they are anti-discrimination. No matter what races they are, they have experiences faced racial discrimination or not, they are support anti- discrimination, not only because themselves and the young generation. They are many ways to help victim, how they treat others and what they want to teach young generation in future. The moral empathy was shown when the respond thinks that if their children faced racial discrimination, and think that what they will do if they meet the racial discrimination happening.
